The Serbia Superliga, also known as the Serbia First League, is the highest form of football competition in Serbia. It may also appear under the name of Mozzart Bet Superliga for sponsorship reasons.
Despite not being on par with some of the strongest leagues, the league is fierce and competitive. With that in mind, the league opens the door to numerous betting options.

The 2023/24 season of the Serbian Superliga will be the 18th season since its foundation. While there were other formations of national competition, the Superliga as is was founded in 2006. The league will start on 29 July and will end around May 2024.
It consists of 16 teams which usually play a standard round-robin format for a total of 30 games. After that, the top eight clubs go into the playoffs, and the lower eight into the relegation group. The two strongest teams are Red Star Belgrade and FK Partizan.
Both the first eight and the second eight clubs play an additional seven games against the remaining members of their group. The top eight have an opportunity to take a spot in European competitions, while the bottom clubs fight to remain in the league and don’t drop out into the First Serbian League (2nd strongest league).
Among the top eight spots, the first place gets a place in the Group Stage of the Champions League. The second place gets the team a spot in the Champions League qualifiers. The third spot grants a direct spot in the Europa League. Lastly, the fourth and fifth place take the teams into the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
Regarding relegation, three clubs drop from the Superliga into the Prva Liga. The last two clubs of the Serbian Superliga drop without the opportunity to remain, while the 13th and 14th teams play two games for a chance to stay.
As mentioned, the starting date of the Superliga was initially set for the 22nd of July, 2023. However, due to complaints from FK Kolubara, a club from the outskirts of the Serbian capital, the league is set to start on the 29th of July.
The official complaint from FK Kolubara caused several problems for the Serbian Football Association. After docking the club nine points and causing them to get relegated, it turns out the evidence for this punishment was insufficient.
With this in mind, it is still unclear whether the upcoming season will have 16 or 17 teams. Thus, the format of the competition and the end date are yet to be determined.
Understanding the league is a crucial element if you want to make an accurate Superliga prediction. This is why having some basic summary of the stats and analytics can be a crucial element for bettors.
In the earlier 2022/23 season, after a total of 240 games in the main phase, the goal tally was 585. On average, there were 2.44 goals per game.
At the same time, 322 of those goals were scored by home teams, and 263 by away. In other words, the home teams usually scored 1.34 goals per game, and the away teams 1.1 GPG.
Moreover, a total of 107 games (45%) ended with less than 2.5 goals, while 133 (55%) games ended with under 2.5 goals.
If we look at all the games in the season, including the playoffs, the relegation group, etc, there was a total of 296 games. Throughout the season, the total number of goals is 718, which means an average of 2.43 GPG. The following table provides some additional insight.

After 296 games in total, the home teams have taken 44% of their games. Oppositely, the away teams were victorious in 31% of games, while 25% ended in a draw. To put it in numbers, the home teams were victorious in 105 games, and the away teams in 75 games. 60 games in the entire season ended in a draw
Throughout the years, the league has seen countless outstanding players start their journey in one of the clubs. The top-scoring player of all time in the league is currently Milan Bojovic, with 100 goals. He is still active and looking to extend his record.
Aleksandar Katai is slowly but steadily chasing this record, as he has 86 goals so far. The remaining names on the list include Andrija Kaludjerovic (80 goals), Milan Pavkov (77) and Ognjen Mudrinski (65 goals).
The league awards the “Slobodan Santrac” award to the best scorer of the season. The latest reward went into the hands of Ricardo Gomes, for whom this was the defending trophy. Check out some of the top scorers in the past years in the table below.
